Wonju-siA few hundred meters further along Yeowon-ro, the autumn palette intensifies where a row of ginkgo trees lines the roadside, their fan-shaped leaves creating a carpet of pure gold on the asphalt below. The combination of warm afternoon light and saturated yellow produces an almost painterly effect that stops passing drivers mid-journey. Behind the ginkgo row, darker deciduous species provide tonal contrast, their brown and rust tones grounding the scene against the ginkgos' theatrical brilliance. This stretch of road between Wonju and the surrounding agricultural villages becomes an accidental gallery each November, the trees planted decades ago for shade now performing as the region's most reliable autumn attraction.
