Carefully placed stepping stones lead through a raked gravel courtyard toward a wooden pavilion with its distinctive upturned eaves. Pruned pine trees stand in deliberate asymmetry, their dark evergreen forms providing the only strong color against the winter-neutral surroundings. The garden follows traditional Korean landscape design principles, where every element from rock placement to sight lines is calculated to create contemplative harmony. Stone walls and low wooden fences define boundaries without blocking views, allowing the garden to feel connected to the broader landscape of Hwaseong Fortress beyond.
