SeoulSeoul Forest's tree-lined paths take on a transitional quality in late September, the canopy still predominantly green but with isolated branches beginning to show the first bronze and russet tones of autumn. The Seoulsup 2-gil section passes through a grove of mature zelkova trees whose broad crowns create a cathedral-like space overhead. Families spread picnic blankets on the grass while children chase each other between the trunks, their laughter carrying in the cooler air that arrives with the autumnal equinox. The light at this hour slants through the canopy at precisely the angle that illuminates the understory while leaving the path in pleasant shade.
