A narrow stream winds across a flat stretch of golden brown heath in southern Iceland, running from the lower left toward a distant crowd near the horizon. Dry tussock grass and bare ground line its banks, and a rope fence on thin posts follows the paved path along the right edge. Beyond the flat ground, a rust-colored hill rises beside a darker slope of leafless shrubs and one small cluster of evergreens. Faint steam drifts near the far end. Layers of white and gray cloud fill a blue sky, with the brightest light falling on the right.
