Bláskógabyggð, IcelandFrom a higher, closer point on the rim, Gullfoss in Iceland opens out in front of a frost-covered slope. Spray rises at the left side of the upper falls, and the water behind the central rock splits into a broad white curtain before dropping into a dark crevice. The right wall of the gorge is black and crusted with ice, topped by a plateau of rust and moss. A few small figures stand along the far left ridge. Warm light falls across the grass in the foreground, with scattered stones and bare twigs in the lower right.
