A slightly wider view of Gullfoss in Iceland shows more of the river arriving from the upstream plain on the left. The water first runs broad and gray-green, then folds over a low ledge and gathers into the main drop. A small dark rock island splits the flow near the center, and the right-hand cliff is layered in black basalt and pale frost. Along the bottom, a sloping bank of white crust runs toward large dark boulders in the corner. Low sun lights the left hillside gold, and a few small figures can be seen standing at the far rim.
