Double-flowering cherry trees in full bloom cascade in a waterfall of deep pink along the riverside walkway at Bomun-ro in Gyeongju's Bodeok-dong. The blossoms are significantly pinker and fuller than standard Yoshino cherry, each flower a dense pom-pom of layered petals that weighs the branches down in heavy, luxurious arcs. Fresh spring green from willows and other deciduous trees provides contrast beneath and between the cherry canopy. A turquoise lake or reservoir is visible through the branches, its calm water reflecting the overhanging trees. Visitors walk the path below while children and families enjoy the waterside, a park bench positioned perfectly for contemplating the scene. This stretch of Bomun Tourist Complex is one of Gyeongju's premiere cherry blossom spots, typically reaching peak bloom in mid-April, a few days after the single-petal varieties have already shed.
