Suncheon-siAlong the Dongcheon River near Suncheon Bay, the September landscape deepens into olive, slate, and tarnished silver as afternoon cloud cover thickens. The river's gentle meander creates a natural S-curve through the frame, drawing the eye from the vegetated banks in the foreground toward the layered mountain silhouettes beyond. Suncheon's position in a natural basin surrounded by peaks of the Honam mountain range gives the valley an enclosed, sheltered character uncommon on Korea's southern coast. The overcast light eliminates harsh shadows and renders the entire scene in the soft, even tones of an ink-wash painting.
