Photographed at Yeonhui-ro 28-gil, Yeonhui-dong, Seoul in February 2024
Captured in a portrait orientation on February 11, 2024, this winter forest scene features towering metasequoia trees along Yeonhui-ro 28-gil in Yeonhui-dong, Seoul. These dawn redwoods, which are deciduous conifers native to central China, were planted across Korean parks and campuses in the 1970s. Over the course of half a century, they have grown into the country's most dramatic tree corridors. In the February dusk, their bare branches reach skyward like cathedral columns. The warm sunset backlights their feathery silhouettes in amber. Located near Yonsei University, this grove feels intimate and cathedral-like in winter's stripped-back state.
