The volcanic sea cliffs of Yeonpyeong-ri drop away in a dramatic diagonal from the grassy foreground, their layered basalt strata exposed where erosion has carved the hillside into stepped shelves. Spring green carpets the upper slopes, with patches of dried winter grass adding tawny contrast, while the cliff face reveals dark volcanic rock in horizontal bands. The sea below is a deep, almost navy blue that fills the right half of the frame, its surface smooth and undisturbed. The horizon line where ocean meets sky is barely perceptible, the two blues merging in a haze. A photographer's shadow falls across the foreground grass, the only human presence in this raw, windswept landscape. The strong diagonal composition and bold color contrast between green land and blue sea make this a striking wallpaper.
