Bláskógabyggð, IcelandA tall wall of columnar rock closes off the top of this Icelandic hillside in the Bláskógabyggð area, its face split into pale brown blocks and cracks. Below it, a broad slab of lava is wrinkled into curved ridges that fan outward like rope or tree rings. Tufts of dry tan grass and low rust-colored shrubs grow between the stones, with a small green mound in the lower center. A tiny sign on a wooden post stands at the left, and bare branches reach in from the upper right against a clear blue sky touched by thin cloud.
