Rangárþing eystra, IcelandLooking down from the top of the falls, white water arcs over a lip of rock on the upper right and vanishes into a drifting haze. A steep cliff of moss, olive grass and layered stone fills the left half, falling away toward a pale blue-gray pool and a curve of black sand. Tiny gulls sit on the ledges, like small white specks. The grass along the foreground edge is dry and tufted, with a scattering of gray gravel at the lower right corner. Pale mist rises from the plunge and softens the lowest rocks, where the drop meets the pool.
