Photographed at Muwang-ri, Yangpyeong-gun in November 2025
The building's covered exterior walkway in Muwang-ri creates a liminal space between inside and outside, its overhead structure filtering the November light into parallel bands of bright and shadow. Through the walkway's open side, the Yangpyeong countryside extends in soft focus, fields and tree lines rendered in the muted tones of late autumn. This architectural gesture, the covered but open-air passage, references traditional Korean hanok design where the maru wooden veranda serves as a transitional space between the house's interior rooms and the courtyard. The contemporary interpretation maintains the principle while abandoning the historical forms.
