ArchitectureLooking almost straight up at Dongdaemun Design Plaza from a different angle, the building's curved aluminum facade fills the entire frame in a disorienting study of geometry and scale. The perforated panels create a grid pattern that warps and stretches as the surface bends away from the viewer, individual tiles catching different amounts of winter daylight to produce a shifting mosaic of silver tones. A hint of purple LED lighting bleeds from beneath the overhang near the bottom of the frame, while overcast February clouds peek in at the upper edge. Without any ground reference or human figures, the image becomes almost abstract, a pure exploration of how this 86,000-square-meter structure transforms from architecture into landscape when viewed from directly below.
