The trail that runs along these ridges connects the National Garden to the higher peaks of the surrounding range, and at this hour hikers descending toward the city would see the bay's tidal flats gleaming like hammered pewter in the distance. Suncheon's elevation and basin geography concentrate the sunset colors into compressed, vivid bands that other, flatter landscapes spread too thin to notice.
