Minutes later on Toegye-ro, the night deepens and the neon glow intensifies as the last traces of twilight disappear from the Seoul sky. The commercial facades of Sindang-dong reflect off rain-dampened or recently washed pavement, doubling the light sources into shimmering vertical streaks that give the street a cinematic quality reminiscent of Wong Kar-wai's urban compositions. This stretch of Toegye-ro maintains a visual density that is distinctly Korean metropolitan, layer upon layer of signage in hangul competing for attention above ground-floor restaurants and shops. The autumn air temperature has dropped enough to produce visible breath from the few pedestrians still on the sidewalk, a reminder that Seoul's October nights can turn genuinely cold once the sun has been down for several hours.
