SeoulA Korean urban park in mid-September presents the quiet transition between summer and autumn, its broad lawns still a vivid green under a sky of blue and cumulus white that carries the last warmth of the warm season. Young trees supported by wooden stakes line the edges of a gently curving boardwalk path, their canopies beginning to show the first subtle shifts toward warmer tones at the very tips of their leaves. The park's design follows the contemporary Korean approach to public green space: generous open lawns for gathering, integrated walking paths for exercise, and carefully spaced tree plantings that will mature into shade canopy over the coming decades.
