Sveitarfélagið Hornafjörður, Iceland
Sveitarfélagið Hornafjörður, IcelandA steep slope of glacier ice sweeps across the lower frame, its surface carved into small scalloped ripples that catch the low sun in thin white lines. Above, a sheet of fine, patterned cloud covers the sky, with the sun shining through at the upper left and clear blue showing in gaps on the right. In the distance, a dark flat plain and a pale lagoon stretch toward the horizon. Dark rock and broken ice sit at the water's edge on the right, in southern Iceland. Soft blue shadows pool in the hollows of the ice, while the highest ridges turn almost white where the light reaches them.
