Xã Tả Van, VietnamFog fills a narrow stone courtyard between two temple buildings in the mountains of northern Vietnam. On the left, a grey brick wall rises to a tiled roof with curled ornaments at the eaves, while a dark timber hall with latticed windows runs along the right. Small lamps glow amber under its eaves. Two figures stand near the far end of the walkway, barely distinct from the white air. Beyond them, more roofs with upturned dragon-like tips fade into mist. Green grasses in planters line both edges of the wet paving, the only strong color in an otherwise grey and brown scene.
