The dramatic volcanic sea cliffs of Udo island dominate the frame as seen from the coastal path of Udohaean-gil, their layered basalt faces rising steeply from the emerald-green water below. Horizontal bands of dark rock alternate with patches of bright green moss and low vegetation clinging to the cliff surfaces, revealing millions of years of volcanic strata in vivid geological detail. At the base of the cliffs, white surf breaks gently against fallen boulders, while the water transitions from deep teal in the open channel to a lighter, almost jade tone near the rocks. The plateau atop the cliff is covered in a patchwork of green grass and dry brown scrub, with a small lighthouse or navigation marker visible at the highest point of the headland. Overcast skies in pale grey-white provide even, diffused lighting that brings out every texture in the rock face without harsh shadows. This is Jeju's volcanic heritage laid bare - the raw, ancient architecture of basalt meeting the patient erosion of the East China Sea.
