Rangárþing ytra, Iceland
Rangárþing ytra, IcelandA dark ridge cuts diagonally from the upper left to the lower right, leaving the night sky open on one side. At the lower center, a curl of bright yellow green aurora rises just above the slope, and its streaks trail off toward the upper right in long fading bands. The sky is almost black with a slight blue grey tint, and small stars scatter through it. Most of the frame is dark, so the green glow, which is concentrated on the right, becomes the only strong color in the scene. The upper sky has a slight reddish brown cast, and thin pale streaks rise from the green curl.
