Rangárþing ytra, IcelandSeconds later in the same night, the aurora has thickened into a broad green arc with a bright glowing knot near its lower center. Dark gaps in the light separate one band from the next, and stars sit sharply in the black areas. Three small cabins line the skyline, and the one on the right shows a warm lit window. A faint reddish tint hangs in the dark patches between the green bands. Below the horizon, the ground is solid black except for a pale slab of snow at the lower right. A small star cluster sits above the right cabin, in the clear dark area beside the arc.
