Hallgrimskirkja rises alone against a completely black night sky in Reykjavik, its tall central tower lit from below in pale gold. A small cross crowns the narrow spire, and two round clock faces sit just under the pointed top. Stepped concrete columns fan out along both sides of the tower, glowing white where the floodlights catch their rough surface. A single arched window near the base shows colored glass. Three tiny figures stand in silhouette at the entrance, which makes the scale clear. A lone street lamp glows at the far left edge.
