Mariposa County, United StatesTwo granite walls meet at a shadowed gap in the middle of this Yosemite scene. On the right, a huge pale cliff with tan and gray streaks climbs out of the frame, and on the left a darker wall carries ledges of scrub and a few pines along its top. Deep in the gap, rocky rubble and dark green vegetation slope down to the trees. A single young pine stands in the foreground, and conifers fill the bottom edge. The sky is white and flat, with only a narrow band showing above the ridgeline. Fine upright grooves run through the right cliff, and tiny pines sit along both ridgelines.
