Mariposa County, United StatesHalf Dome stands at the upper right of this misty Yosemite scene, a massive curve of pale granite with one steep, flat side. Below it the valley narrows into a dark, forested cleft, and the walls on either side show long diagonal streaks where water and weather have worn the stone. A ridge of lighter rock crosses the middle distance, almost blending into the white sky. Only a few small pine tips break the lower edge, one near the center and others at the right. The overall tone is quiet and monochrome, with tiny shifts between silver, gray and deep green.
