The wooden columns and bracket sets of a Namhansanseong hanok stand in sharp relief against the winter landscape of Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do. Traditional dancheong paintwork, faded by decades of exposure, retains hints of red, green, and blue on the eave brackets. The February afternoon provides shadowless illumination that turns the structure into an architectural study, every mortise and tenon joint visible. Beyond the building, the bare hillside reveals the contours of the fortress terrain that has served as a military stronghold for centuries. The portrait format captures the full height of the structure from foundation stones to ridge beam.
