Coconino County, United StatesA small, brilliant sun dips to the edge of a flat Grand Canyon horizon, spreading an orange glow under soft blue skies. Thin wisps of pink and peach cloud float in the middle distance, and a few streaks of cirrus mark the upper sky. Beneath the horizon the canyon is almost completely dark, with cliff faces in the foreground turned to deep brown silhouettes. A few faint rays fall diagonally across the gorge, and a small pale thread of river shows at the lower right. A shrub-covered cliff at the center left holds a trace of warm red where the last light touches it.
