Uyuni, BoliviaA flat, gravelly stretch of ground near Uyuni leads toward a low line of brown hills. Along the base of the hills runs a long, dark row of rusted railway wagons and metal frames, small and thin against the distance. In front, dry scrub, plastic bags and bits of trash dot the pale soil, while a faint track curves through the middle. The sky is a clean gradient, deep blue at the top and lighter near the ridgeline. Light falls evenly across the ground, bringing out the grainy texture of the gravel and the muted tan, grey and purple tones of the hills.
