Taichung, TaiwanA narrow concrete canal runs straight through Taichung's Xitun District, its shallow water moving over a pale stone bed. Both banks are lined with embedded cobbles and patches of weeds, and black railings follow the top edge on each side. Overhead, large trees reach across from either bank and join into a green tunnel, with thick grey limbs twisting through the foliage. A small bridge crosses the channel in the distance, where a bright gap opens at the end. Parked cars line the left roadside, and pale multistory buildings rise on the right beneath a soft white sky.
