Sea & CoastAlong the Donghaean Bicycle Path near Cheongho-dong in Sokcho-si, the East Sea stretches in an unbroken expanse of summer blue toward a hazy horizon where sea and sky merge. Late July afternoon light gives the water a deep, saturated teal that darkens toward the horizon, and the coastal path follows the cliff edge where wind-sculpted pines lean permanently seaward. Sokcho sits at the gateway to Seoraksan, but its coastline holds its own drama, the East Sea's clear waters and rugged basalt shoreline creating a landscape more reminiscent of Japan's San'in coast than typical Korean beaches.
