A pristine stretch of sandy beach meets the crystal-clear waters of the East Sea at Sokcho in Gangwon-do, with the shoreline creating a gentle curve that separates the warm golden sand from the brilliant turquoise and deep blue ocean. The water near the shore is remarkably transparent, revealing dark clusters of submerged rocks and patches of seaweed beneath the surface that create natural patterns of green, teal, and dark brown against the sandy bottom. Weathered granite boulders emerge from the water on both sides of the cove, their rounded surfaces covered with patches of green algae that indicate the tidal zone. The sea stretches to a perfectly clean horizon line where the deep blue water meets an equally clear cobalt sky, with a few tiny rocky islets barely visible in the far distance. A single small object on the beach, possibly a chair or sign, provides a sense of scale that emphasizes the expansive emptiness of this autumn beach scene. This serene coastal view captures the exceptional water clarity and natural beauty that make Sokcho's beaches among the most striking on Korea's east coast.
