Taichung, TaiwanLooking through the heavy dark beams of a covered wooden corridor, a small garden pond sits among ferns and shrubs in Nantun District, Taichung. Across the water, a timber pavilion with a carved railing stands partly over the pond beneath grey-tiled eaves. Fish drift in the green water, and a large trunk leans from the right. Leaves in the foreground are bright and glossy, some with reddish tips. The beams in the upper half cut the scene into rectangles, so the pond feels glimpsed from a shaded hallway. The pavilion's timber is dark brown, and its pale walls and a notice board can be seen in the shade behind the railing.
