The canyon below stays in deep red-brown shadow, with its walls stepping back in clear layers. A narrow pale bend of river appears near the center, just beyond a dark red rock ledge that fills the bottom. At the left, a steep cliff with scrub and fine steep cracks rises toward the sky. Sky and rock share the same warm hue, and they separate only by brightness.
