Distant mesas make a long flat edge, and ridge after ridge fades toward them in graduated tones of mauve and gray. At the lower left, the Colorado River shows as a small pale curve beside a red-brown rock shelf that fills the corner. The effect is calm and cool, with orange confined to the far rim of the sky.
