Dark volcanic rocks emerge from churning white surf along the coast of Ilchul-ro in Mukho-dong, Donghae-si, their angular, layered surfaces worn smooth in places by centuries of wave action. The largest rock formation rises prominently at center, its dark gray and rust-streaked face standing firm against the foaming water that surges around its base from all directions. Smaller boulders and fractured rock fragments are scattered around it, each wrapped in swirling white water that creates intricate lace-like patterns. The ocean water transitions from deep blue-green in the calmer areas to brilliant white where it meets stone, capturing the full spectrum of wave energy in a single frame. Patches of orange-brown oxidation on the rock surfaces add warm accents to the otherwise cool palette of gray stone and blue-white water. The close perspective and absence of sky create a composition that feels immersive, as though the viewer is standing at the very edge of the breakwater looking down into the turbulent meeting point of land and sea.
